With the rash of auto manufactures announcing cutback in dealerships everyone is wondering if their fort wayne auto dealer will still be in business to repair and service their cars. As of today several Fort Wayne auto dealers announced they will be losing their association with Chrysler and General Motors. The Fort Wayne auto businesses that have already been notified by Chrysler are: Tomkinson Dodge of Fort Wayne, Trier Ford-Chrysler in Columbia City, Meyer Auto Sales in Monroeville, and Sorg South of Warsaw. In addition, I was watching the news at lunch time and heard channel 15 news announce that GM will be cutting ties with Don Ayres Pontiac Honda GMC on Lima Road and Mendenhall-Roy Chevrolet in Grabill.
With the financial state of both automakers It is possible that further reductions in the amount of auto dealers in the Fort Wayne area could take place. Most of these franchises will run through 2010 from what I’ve been reading in the paper and online. Just because a car lot wont have a franchise with a national auto maker doesn’t meant that they will necessarily pack up the desk and close the doors. Most of these businesses have established auto repair and service facilities that will continue to operate I’m sure. My daughter had just bought a car from Tomkinson and called up all worried that her car warranty was suddenly going to be null and void. Don’t fret there will still plenty of Fort Wayne auto dealers around that can handle your warranty repairs and service needs. However that’s hard to explain to a teenager that just bought her first car with her own hard earned money. I’ll post further updates about the closing of other Fort Wayne auto dealerships as I hear of them.

Fort Wayne Auto Evaluating A Lease
Fort Wayne auto leases have been on the rise in the recent years. Many find that they
can bet a better deal on a Fort Wayne auto if they consider leasing over buying. There are many different factors involved in getting a good deal besides just the monthly payment amount. If you solely focus on payment price when determining if a
Fort Wayne auto lease is the way to go you most likely will be getting the short end of the stick. Here are some common things to consider when looking at the terms before buying your Fort Wayne auto.
Check incentives: be on the look-out for factory –subsidized leese deals.
Auto manufacturers realise that consumers who lease cars from them are
more likely to be repeat customers than those who simply purchase autos.
Through their leasing companies, they adjust the residual value and offer
low financing charge. Other auto-manufacturers are also starting to give
incentives on leasing, called leasing subventions. They offer these
subsidies to put slow-selling models on the street, saving you even more
money.
Set up a competitive: bidding environment to get the lowest price. If you
already have an idea in mind of the make, model and trim level of your
desired car, attempt to calculate your own lease payment before you go
shopping to avoid paying through the roof. Check online comparison tools or
use a lease calculator to check your lease payment based on purchase price.
This gives you greater negotiation leverage as you solicit quotes from
various leasing companies.
Make sure you know all the fees involved at the beginning of your Fort Wayne
Auto lease: you may have to pay fees for licenses, registration and title. Other fees include acquisition fees, freight fees and local or state taxes. At
lease-end, you may have to pay a disposition fee and charges for extra
mileage and any excess wear. Be aware that some of these fees – like
acquisition and disposition fees – are negotiable.
Know your mileage needs: almost all leases limit the number of miles per
year by imposing typically 10 to 20 cents per excess mile over 15,000 miles
a year. If you are the kind of high-comuter who puts 40,000 miles a year
on his car, then you might end up running thousands of dollars in hefty
penalties at the end of your lease. Be smart and negotiate a higher-mileage
limit or pad you excess miles at the beginning of your Fort Wayne auto
lease to avoid robber tax rates for excess miles.

Include GAP coverage: make sure your Fort Wayne Auto lease includes GAP coverage. This covers you in the event of the vehicle getting wrecked, stolen or totalled.
Without GAP insurance, you leave yourself wide open to thousands of dollars
in leased obligations. Check if the GAP coverage is included so you don’t
pay it twice.

Welcome To Fort Wayne Auto
Welcome to my Fort Wayne Auto blog. I'm an avid auto enthusiast and love to spend my spare time browsing through the many different auto dealers lots and showrooms. I was shocked when I first moved to Fort Wayne to find such an abundance of different auto dealers for both new and used cars. It seems like you can find either a dealership or used car lot on the corner of every major intersection in town. Being the second largest town in Indiana, having a large presence in the auto manufacturing business, and having a used car auto auction located in Fort Wayne, are huge factors in the abundance of places to buy, sell or trade an autos. I plan on using this site to introduce some of my favorite places to window shop for new cars and hopefully offer some quality advice for those seeking to buy or sell a new or used auto in Fort Wayen
